HOW CAN I PAY DUES?
Union dues are $132.15 and are to be paid at the beginning of every quarter (JANUARY, APRIL, JULY, OCTOBER). Union dues can be paid with the following:
• Postal Money Order
• Personal Check
• Credit/ Debit Card (There is a $5.00 processing fee for all credit/debit payments)
All postal money orders and checks must be made payable to Local Union 157 and must include the member's U.B.C. number. Local 157 takes phone payments from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. LOCAL 157 DOES NOT ACCEPT CASH, AMERICAN EXPRESS, OR ANY FORM OF ONLINE PAYMENT.
HOW DO I PAY DUES AS AN APPRENTICE?
Apprentices must present their school card with the proper quarter sticker affixed to it in order to pay their dues. It is the apprentice's responsibility to make sure the school I.D. is up-to-update. The Local will not be contacting the NYCLTC for the apprentice. If dues payment is being mailed, apprentices must include a copy of the front and back of the school I.D. along with a self-addressed stamped envelope. If dues payment is called in, an apprentice must forward a picture of the front and back of their school card to the Local 157 email. Apprentices cannot pay dues more than one quarter in advance depending on what stickers are affixed to the school I.D.
HOW CAN I JOIN?

WHAT IF I MOVE?
Address changes must be done through the Local, Benefits Funds Dept., or the District Council. Address Change Forms must be requested from the previously stated offices and filled out accordingly.
WHAT IF I HAVE OTHER INFORMATION THAT CHANGES?
If for any reason, a name, phone number, or Social Security Number must be changed or corrected, please contact the Local for more information.
WHAT IF I HAVE AN ILLNESS, ACCIDENT, OR SURGERY?
Local Union 157 offers a Sick Donation Plan. Members are eligible for up to 12 weeks for a calendar year at $250.00 a week, paid monthly ($800.00). The maximum lifetime benefit 36 weeks. Below is a description of the plan and what is needed to qualify for it at the time of application:
• Must be a member of Local 157 for 3 full years.
• Member must be in good standing to receive the donation check.
• Member must be out for at least 2 full work weeks (which they will not be paid for).
A doctor's note must be provided to Local 157 which states the following:
• Name
• Social Security Number
• A statement that the member is unable to work.
• A statement that the member is under the physician's care.
• The day the member goes out of work because of illness/ accident/ surgery, until the day the member is able to return to work. If the physician is unsure of the return date, it must be stated as 'indefinite' or 'undetermined.'
• Note must be signed or stamped by the physician.
• Local 157 must receive an original note. Copies and faxes are NOT accepted.
Once the doctor's note is received and processed, the member will be mailed out the first sick donation form. This original form must be completed by the physician and returned to Local 157. Once passed on the floor at the monthly Local 157 Membership meeting, checks are processed and sent out via mail the following day. This will also include the next sick donation form (pending further eligibility).
WHAT IF I HAVE A CHILD GOING TO COLLEGE?
Local 157 awards 16 scholarships annually to children of our membership. All phases of the scholarship competition, including selection of winners and operational activities are handled by International Scholarship & Tuition Services (ISTS). To start, there shall be 16 scholarships awarded (divided into two tiers) each year under this program. The scholarships are intended to offset the costs of attending college for the purpose of attaining a bona fide undergraduate degree. Eight (8) first tier scholarship awardees school shall be paid $6,000 per year for as many as four years, but not to exceed $24,000. Eight (8) second tier scholarship awardees school shall be paid $3,000 per year for as many as four years, but not to exceed $12,000. Students will be considered eligible as candidates for a scholarship award provided one parent is a member in good standing for five consecutive years, according to the Financial Secretary, at the time the application is submitted. The member must continue their active membership, in good standing, with Local 157, in order for the child to continue receiving the award. WHAT IF I RETIRE?
For any member retiring, there are services and benefits available from Local 157 if the union membership remains open. Dues must be kept up to date at a reduced amount (see below). WHEN ARE THE LOCAL 157 MEMBERSHIP MEETINGS?
The Monthly Membership meetings take place on the third Thursday of every month (unless noted otherwise) at the NYC District Council of Carpenters Training Center. Meetings typically start at 4:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the LTC.
DOES THE LOCAL HAVE ANY ANNUAL EVENTS?
Local 157 hosts a number of annual events, such as our Scholarship Golf Outing in spring and family picnic in the summer. Local 157 also organizes fishing trips, trips to area colleges for sporting events, and group events with several of the NYC professional sports organizations.
